Once upon a time I owned a #3 in .375 Win. Very accurate was a maximum load under a 220 grain bullet. With the curved butt plate and no recoil pad it kicked like a mule! Because of the way the butt plate was inlet into the top of the stock and the curve in the butt it was not practical to install a good recoil pad so it went down the road. I often thought that rifle in a small caliber would be a great one to tote around in the woods. I never tried to find one, however.
