This book is about a battalion of men who were in Nazi or Wehrmacht uniforms until the war's end and who subsequently joined the French Foreign Legion and fought the Communist Viet Minh in French Indochina. The book has been sold as true although some critics believe it to be fiction.
In it the battles and methods of jungle warfare in Indochina- subsequently Viet Nam-are described. The brutality described pretty much lines up with what men reported 15-20 years later from our troops.
It is an interesting read and is worth reading if you have an interest in first hand accounts of war. (Even if it is fictionalized, it's interesting).
