123 out of almost 375,000 or about one in every 3000 deer harvested. Doesn't sound as dire as some make it out to be. No doubt there is a problem but a .03% rate of infection hardly seems like the end of the world. I assure you there were far more than 123 deer in PA killed by poachers, more than 123 killed by vehicles, more than 123 killed by predators. I bet more than 123 were killed by farm equipment this spring. The reaction to this has been blown way out of proportion as far as I am concerned. I have a cabin and have grown up hunting my whole life right in the middle of the main PA CWD area and the increased tags, sharpshooters, and government agency intervention has had a huge impact on the deer numbers.
