Well I see this thread is a few months old but I'll reply since I cam across it.
The B&L HDR Premier actually is superb for a multicoated non ED spotter. I think they only were discontinued because of the name change. (When Bushnell stopped using the B&L trademark).
They're solid, well made, waterproof and built like a tank. If you throw away the factory generic eyepiece they come with and put on a real Kowa Eyepiece like the LER 25x, you'll love it. (yes they Take Kowa TSN eyepieces).
Yes they're made in Japan but i'd consider it a plus here in the modern Era. Rochester never built a 60mm scope quite as good. They did make a good Balscope SR but in comparison the HDR Premier is superior.
