In Shrapnels defense he probably didn't notice any bears following him because he runs elk down with his truck on the plains in Montana.
Would like to know the size of a truck needed to run down elk. Can’t see a pickup being enough truck. Maybe a dodge magnum.

Yes, it's a bit larger than a 223 and not nearly a 264, but I hear it's the velocity.

PS, I've known of folks doing elk, moose, cattle and horses with small sedans, as in Toyota/Chevy Cruz size, but those are single shots and only good for one critter.
