It's been a while since I got rid of my 376 Steyr, but I remember it recoiling about the same as the 375 H&H Sako I had. Not abusive, but you definitely knew you fired a large bore rifle. The 376 was easier to handle as it was more compact. Got rid of both of them when I left Alaska. No need for a big thumper in Midwest whitetail country.
