The Dems are clever. They are used to GOP leaders that are concerned about their reputation and legacy. When faced with a ferocious attack, they usually cower and quit to save their "legacy". Worse yet, some knuckle under and toe the line (See John mcCain and Mitt Romney).
Trump has no worries about what his legacy will be. Ultimately, Trump knows his policies, like those of Reagan will bring success in many areas and THAT is the legacy he wants. So where does that leave the the Dems? It leaves then head scratching because Trump hasn't quit, knuckled undered or bowed. As a matter of fact, once Trump learned the hard way that there is no room to be "reasonable" with the unreasonable Left (see Session's recusal), he is quite willing to attack back and the Dems are not prepared for that.
Trump tells the Dems "you want to go fishing? Not on my dime! Do a full House vote for Impeachment or go jump! I want ALL of you on record". Dems don't want that. They will now try to spin this as obstruction, but as long as Trump stays this course, they are screwed. If they insist on this ploy, Trump will insist on a vote by the full House. In the meantime, Dems will get no help on their fishing expedition.
