Well, my 30 year dream of killing a bull elk was accomplished this week. Hunted with a friend in southern Wyoming and got on this guy after we spotted him about 1,800 yards away. After I watched Jon sprint up the hill (he runs ultra marathons in Wyoming), I took what was probably 10-15 minutes to climb up to him. We got to almost 500 yards but had cows working toward us, so pulled an end around and got up above them at right at 400 yards. Jon says he’s a real nice 6x5, so I was ready. He was slightly quartering toward me.
400 yards, 139 Scenar at 3,060 out of my Extreme Hunter 6.5Gap4S. Suppressor made it easier to watch the impact.
He barely flinched, and Jon said, “did you miss him?” “Nope” Cows milled around and he turned to start walking with them, started wobbling, and just kind of sank to the ground and was dead within 30 seconds.

Fresh elk loins and an ice cold Black Tooth Saddle Bronc tasted like a meal in heaven!
