I haven't loaded for a 25-06 in quite a while, but when I did, I loaded 52 grains of H4831 under a 120 grain Hornady bullet for around 3,050 fps. Later, I went up to 54 grains for 3,120 fps. That was in a Remington 700 BDL with 24" barrel.

In my old 25-06 I could get about 3,250 fps with a 100 grain Partition and 3,400 with either the 87 grain Sierra or the 90 grain Sierra for varmints. I only shot one deer with that rifle using 50 grains of IMR 4350 under a Hornady 120 grain HP. That chronographed just about 3,000 fps even. It knocked the buck down DRT at 175 yards.

2,700 fps is certainly slow for any bullet in the 25-06. Re-check everything.



My 25-06 is getting 3087 FPS using 54.0 of H-4831SC behind the Hornady 120 gr HP. A great bullet sadly Hornady discontinued.
