Santa, the Easter Bunny, and yes, we would occasionally turn on cartoons with the sound up high for some “one on one”! When he was a baby, we had one of those windup baby swings that got used an awful lot! grin
Being Dad, I didn’t have to make empty threats. My belt or my hand bought me all the authority I needed to get respect and behavior. Just the idea of getting a “whoopin” was all that was needed.
I know when we were little my Mom would tell us that Gypsies or Goblins would take us if we weren’t good. Dad didn’t have to.
I don’t know if Carol threatened “Big Hunter” with stories or not.
