There are many characteristics involved with ammo. The characteristic that is most important to me is accuracy. The round that I always come back to is the Remington Core Lokt 30-06 150g. The CL does better than most of boutique ammo that I've tried, I don't know why I buy it. When I leave for a hunt I always grab the green box.
CL's are cheap. But I've never had a rifle that would shoot it accurately.
Most recently:
- Marlin 30-30 shoots CL's 1 1/2 at 50 yards but Winchesters into a 1/2" group.
- Rem 700 shoots CL's 2 1/2" at 100 yards. Hornady Superperformance 150 grs into a 3/4" group.
I always give the CL's a chance. But they've never been the best.
