I think the name gives it a slight premium but I do wonder about the condition of the barrel. If it says just .300 magnum then .300 Magnum what? Considering all the wildcat .300 mags in Ackley's book, vol1 and 2 is it an H&H, Winchester, or Weatherby .300 mag. or someone's creation? Might be worth about $600 give or take depending on how badly you want it and condition. Is the barrel shot out? I guess it all boils down to how much of a gambler you are.

For the record I did just that on a Danzig Mauser. I've always wanted one with the double triggers and I love the style and feel of the type. So, I worked a trade and took it to my gunsmith to see about mounting a scope. The rifle had been rebarreled by Ackley BTW and shoots pretty good with the iron sights. Ive never been able to find the parts to replace the scope mounts. Four holes in the receiver ring and four more in the rear of the receiver plus some huge hole in the center of the receiver rear. Gunsmith's estimate for labor and reshaping the bolt for a scope? $700 to $900 based on time. Needless to say that rifle has been sitting in the safe since then. I think the rifle is post war put together by some gunsmith and was a GI take home. Oh yeah, it's chambered to the (GASP!) .270 Win.

Our forefathers did not politely protest the British. They did not vote them out of office, nor did they impeach the king, march on the capitol or ask permission for their rights. ----------------They just shot them.
