Gary, I know the remington -keene and the hotchkiss were around,but they were old black powder guns,not high velocity smokeless powder firearms. If i remember correctly the savage 1920 was around $60.00 ,pretty high priced during depression time.I also heard they got into a lawsuit from mauser,over the design,maybe rumor cant remember for sure.
