I recall him telling Cosell “I had one of the greatest arms in NFL”....obviously not. Cosell told the audience “how could that be, I watched you play.” Meredith set the hook and said, “now Howard, not many qb’s can throw a ball 50 yds end over end!” Ba-boom, rimshot. He was great!
ROFL, I wish I had head that when it happened, but it is funny as heck reading it just now. Sonny Jurgenson was another QB who could throw an ugly pass , but win the game.
