Prior to the boomer generation, men expected their wives to know how to prepare meals, so women took care to learn. In the name of feminism enough boomer men abandoned that model. Instead they ate fast food or accepted various shortcuts like TV dinners. Women predictably followed that direction and neglected to learn cooking skills.
In some places there has been a resurgence of traditional values. Men value wholesome behavior from women, so women are behaving in wholesome ways again.
Both my wife and I like raw dough, so only half her cookies usually reach the oven.
