Yep on the deep sockets wrapped with strips of coarse grit. Finish it all off at the end with a few strokes of finer grit. I generally bed the action afterwards with a tape donut on the barrel for float/clearance.
It likely amounts to heresy on here, but I also have a few of those SPS stocks that I added a few ounces of bullets in the forearm slots and then epoxied over. Didn't add much overall weight, but can make a 20-21" barrel balance more like a 24". Stiffened things up a bit also.
