My wife had a Heeler when we met. In fact she says the only reason she married me is I was the only guy she'd met that Timber liked. lol
What a fuggn guy. She got him out the back door of the pound he'd been declared a dangerous dog and was going to be put down. He was about 6 months old fending for himself down town in a city of near a million people, wtf you expect a heeler to be all lovey dovey and mellow? Anyways it 'was taken care of' and my wife ended up with him. He never did get completely tame we had to watch him around some people and some situations. But he'd do anything for us and took to our family and friends no problem. Well maybe not my BIL. lol Didn't kill chickens like other dogs we had, he was even fine with the cat. He was one of the best dogs I've ever been around, been gone for 20 years now but I still remember everything about him.
