Jack O'Conner thought that the 150 killed elk better than the early 175, but the first 175s were sort of oddballs they were semi spitzers and I think loaded down as a sort of brush load. Remington did what some manufacturers were doing with the 270 150 RN. It didn't take long before the 175 CL was upgraded to a spitzer. I have had good results with bullets from 120 to 175 but now use 168s and 175s as I shoot the lighter bullets in the 280 AI.
