I have never received any government handout and just don't believe in it. I am a sole proprietor and work for myself. I don't have any employees but was planning to add one this summer, maybe a second next winter, before all this happened.
March was my best month ever, even though I didn't receive a penny after the 23rd. My income has been devastated. I am able to get by because I have savings and no debt. I did not qualify for the stimulous handout.
I do qualify to apply for the PPP, and possibly have it cancelled. So it's a low interest loan that may turn into free money. I have very mixed feelings about it. The first round was out of money in a snap. Lot's of big, evenly publicly traded company's paid out in it. My dad also worked for himself and I have tried to think what he would do...and I'm not sure. He's been dead for years.
Those of you working for yourself, are you similarly conflicted, making the grab, or turning it down?
