I have used several types of locks, but the cam lock is my favorite. I keep a pair of kleins and a pair of channel locks with me in my ATV. One can almost always loosen the snare with these, but if not, then one can cut the snare with the Kleins.

When setting snares at holes in fences, I support the snare on the barbed wire but I do not attach the swivel or the snare to the fence. Larger hogs are incredibly powerful for their weight and will destroy a fence.

I'm not familiar with other states, but it is my understanding that one must have a Trapper's License ( along with a hunting license) to legally snare in Texas.
