Back in the 80's I shot a small bull moose in the forehead from about 20 yards with a 250 grain Grand Slam from my .338 Win. mag. Had a whole about 3 inches in diameter going in and no exit hole. This was an early fall fork horn moose with velvet on the antlers. It should of exited with the angle I had. I believe a 250 grain Partition or Barnes X would of had a much smaller entrance hole and an exit hole. Shot the rest of the Grand Slams at the range and stayed with the wonderful Partition until late 80's when I switched to the Barnes X flavors.

I shot a similar moose at about 60 yards and the shot angle was about the same and bullet placement the same. The bullet was a 250 grain X that had a small entrance hole and a exit hole out the back of the moose's head about the size of my fist.
