Been looking for them here but it is a good week to 10 days early for fawns per past observation and the doe that was hit in front of my home on Sunday. The usually dogs find them before I do when getting some excersize walking the pasture checking fence. The dogs have been broken from chasing deer so I actually notice their reaction to first scenting a fawn rather than the dogs bothering the fawn.

Way back when I had labs I had one dog that would retrieve any animal or bird we found, no matter how fresh or rancid. It found a newborn fawn and attempted to bring it back to us. Doe did not agree with that plan and the dog was rather confused as it did not know what to do about a deer trying to stomp it and me laughing too hard to say, "drop." The doe finally planted a decent kick to the rump causing the dog to Yelp, drop the fawn, and run to me. He was the first dog I had that was truly deer broke.
