Love the show, but it's had some challenges with the daughters all growing up. Youngest is now at the Air Force Academy, so they've had to try to develop new characters and lines.
As for politics, the show is actually pretty balanced. Yes, the lead character is very pro-Trump, anti-Obama and loves Reagan. The son in law is polar opposite and the wife is pro-Hillary. They actually deal with it all very well and take shots at both points of view.
