went out tonight to cover the artichoke and noticed most all of them tater plants had turned black. Still some green in the centers. I gotta hope there's enough "juice" left in the taters to maybe send up some more shoots. They're a good 4"-6" under the mulch so they likely didn't get the frost. Modoc reds too, supposedly developed for our clay soils. My first year with them.

They're covered tonight. I hope they come back as the nursery dude is usually sold out of seed taters by this time.

Nothing like a couple of new taters fried up with some fresh eggs from the girls for breakfast in the fall.

Yeah, I know about the 90 day thing. That's about all we get. June 10 to Sept 11 or something last year.
