I grew up in a suburb of Boston, and was a lifelong Celtics fan. In 1986, the ownership of the Celtics went public, and my wife bought me 10 shares at $18.50 per share. In return I got an awesome stock certificate with my name imprinted on it and quarterly dividend checks. This went on from 1986 to 2002, when the Celtics went private again. I got a check for $210 to cash me out. Stock certificates are now worth $100-$150 on eBay, so it was a pretty solid investment. With all the BLM crap going on now, you couldn’t pay me to attend an NBA GAME.
