Yes. they do like apples. Pulled in my driveway once and a bunny was chowing down on a fallen golden delicious. When my garage door started to open he picked up his apple and ran for the sagebrush.
I used to live trap bunnies for a guy to help train his dogs. He paid me by the rabbit and I caught a few. Always used apples for bait.
I use .22 lr for bait. Word of caution...... they're not worth much after ingesting that small amount of lead.
