I would love to hear your recommendation of a bullet weight for elk, and I would love to hear from anyone that has successfully used the 6.5 on elk. I understand that bullet placement is ultimately the most important factor in hunting with a rifle, but if many of you believe that the 6.5 can be more than capable on an elk I might reconsider my caliber choice for my youngest daughter's gun.

I have not used the 6.5 Creedmore on elk, but have taken cows with the .260 Rem and the 6.5x06. Stay with a premium/deep penetrating bullet of 120 gr or better and you should have no trouble (I used copper mono bullets in both cases.)
