I would think if you wanted more velocity, step up to a magnum. I had a 1903-A3 Springfield with a 24" barrel and a 2.5 K Weaver scope at 10.5 pounds. Wished it had a 22" barrel. My Ruger M 77 with 22" barrel, just right.
