Today any good 404J rifle will achieve 2400 FPS with a 400 grain 0.423” bullet, solid or soft. Enough for anything up to and including elephant. The 300 grain load in the 404J was never a good idea IMHO. Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it Almighty God!
