I have seen quite a few elk killed with 270s using good bullets of 140 and 150 grains in weight. I have also seen seen around a Dz killed with 7-08s with various 140s and I personalty killed 3 with a 7X57 but all my 7X57 kills were with 160 and 175 grain bullets.
A 270 will move a 140 grain bullet about 100 FPS faster then the 7-08 in the cases of equal barrel lengths and equal pressures. That added 100 FPS is not going to be at all significant in the killing of elk. The elk I saw killed with good 140s from 7-08s all went down in short order, and most had exit wounds.

So bonded bullets of 140 to 150 grains have such a good track records.

I am 100% sure you'll be happy with that bullet.
Shoot well.
Happy hunting.
