It’s a first generation (milled receiver) Ruger 77, and has been in the safe since 1996. We’re gonna try and put it to use.

Many years ago, I bought 1000 - 130 grain “blem” bullets, presently the rifle is wearing a 3-9 Burris. A few years ago I picked-up a Leupold VX3 6-25 (30 mm tube) scope. I just bought 2 sets (1” and 30 mm) Weaver Grand Slam Lever-Loc rings, will soon order a Weigand picitinny base. The two scopes, zero’d and ready to hunt, should cover any terrain we’re likely to hunt! I’ve got a bunch of RL 17 powder to work with, and should work pretty well!

It should make a good varmint gun, up to and through wolves! Looks like a good summer project! memtb

You should not use a rifle that will kill an animal when everything goes right; you should use one that will do the job when everything goes wrong." -Bob Hagel
