President Ford pardoned President Nixon who was never charged or convicted of any crime.
A pardon would free up a lot of money, time, and other resources to pursue more important issues. Also I think his net worth is nowhere near the amount he advertises. And a lot of that is in real estate which is not liquid. Also he lost a lot over the last four years.
