I'm certainly not an attorney but have spent a good bit of time in court as a witness and an observer. In most any case where evidence was destroyed or compromised by a party to a case that evidence was considered adverse to the party responsible for the evidence being missing or compromised. It was referred to as spoliation of evidence.
