I may be misunderstanding you here, but when using Kifaru's load shelf the bag isn't designed to be pulled back over the top of the frame like it is when you have no load on the shelf. I did that for a while and ripped the yolk on my Reckoning, which they repaired for free. I talked to Kifaru and they said that if you want some compression on top with a load on the shelf to hook K clips to the top of the frame and 2 more K clips to tab loops somewhere near the top of the bag, connect them with straps and buckles and then cinch it tight, without the top of the bag over the frame.
