Not Leupold, but a Burris E1 4.5-14x42 gets pretty dim at 14x under overcast sky, so going with a bigger objective is a good idea. Might still need to turn it down a touch in dim light. I had the VX-3i 3.5-10 for a bit, and it worked well for as long as I had it. Crapshoot, I guess.

I went with a Trijicon Credo HX 2.5-10x56 for the bigger exit pupil, but it’s a 25oz monster. Nice scopes though.

I had a Bushnell 6500 Elite, 2.5-16x42 that did similar. Glass was equivalent to the VX-3 if not better. Eyebox would get pretty tight at higher power. At dim light, I'd have to cut powder back to get adequate vision. It went down the road, I think the 50mm version would have been better.

I've never owned a Trijicon rifle scope, have handled a few. I bet that is a great glass, although they are heavier than Leupold.
