The rifle is built to be light, and the barrel is too thin to take a normal 5/8x24 thread, you might get the threads on there, but you will have no shoulder for your muzzle device to butt up against.

Kimber sells adapters for cheap if you want to run a can, if you want a brake, they also sell a nice low profile brake that matches up beautifully with their barrels, same diameter, same finish. I've used both with great success.

IF you want to get crazy you can have it cut and rethreaded 1/2x28 but you will still need an adapter to run a 30cal can on it. Oh yeah I did that too.

lots of easy options... That all work great on a lightweight rifle with a pencil barrel.
