In the winter (realize the temps are up) but starved for fuel and a slug of water may have worker its way to the injection pump, lines and injectors, and even using some PS to rack tankful, I used to give the tank a reasonable shot of 911. Almost sounds like fuel delivery issue, filter or air leak. Some are just more temperamental than others. I've gone out to my share of out of fuel calls, and always take PS, 911, a rag and air tank (use sparingly), and make sure every bit of air is out through the filters to the pump. Too late now, bit let us know, may save someone else a headache. Always fuel diesel equip at 1/4 tank as part of your preventative maint program, better save than sorry scenario. Your on the right track with PS or other additive for lubricity with today's fuels.
