I killed this coues deer that was only what we would call a 2 point here, I guess a 6 point eastern... backpacked into the wilderness, in an area I found on an old map that had a spring, miles off any trail. These deer probably never experienced a hunter before. He was the rutting buck with does. I could see his mass and spread under a juniper, when he walked out to the does I shot him at 420 yards. I was surprised he was a 2 point when I hiked over to him.

Took the cape to a taxidermist buddy who always needs some, he has a wildlife biology degree, he said that buck was always a 2 point, and no hunting pressure he matured to the dominate buck.

There's also a spot up on the rim that has huge 2 point muleys in their genes, like that whitetail.
