I'm fully aware of the impact that coyotes have on the deer herd..and it's minimal. They do kill some fawns, and while we've all heard the stories about them taking full grown, healthy deer, the reality is that this is so rare as to be a non concern. If anything, it's the natural order of things.

As for their predation on cattle operations, I am again intimately familiar. Yes, coyotes do take the occasional calf but I am firmly convinced that the vast majority of the deaths attributed to coyotes are still-born calves scavenged by predators.


That being said...I prefer coyote hunting to all other types. I enjoy calling them more than anything else, save maybe turkey. I do feel the concern over a sole coyote on a trail camera is a bit overblown.
