The 9.3x62 is "popular" in the Scandinavian countries gut it was developed in 1905 but Otto Bock....in Germany!
It has had following in Central Europe and more recently in the United States. The popularity in Colonial Africa can be attributed to affordable German rifles chambered for that caliber. These were much less expensive than English magazine rifles like Westley Richards.
