Are you using Hornady dies? I had a similar problem with some 500 Linebaugh brass. It turned out the little spring clip at the base of the bullet seating die protruded a little too much into the die and was scoring the case vertically. Upon firing the case would split. I hadn't noticed it when I was loading. I checked all the rounds I had loaded and several of them had a vertical scratch. I removed the the clip and shortened it up with a dremel and the problem ceased. Fortunately I had only loaded a few small batches of test loads and not several boxes.


Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.
