With this latest shortage of everything shooting related and the fact that a friend gave me some 8/57 brass I was wondering What would be needed to use this in the 7/57? I am assuming that I would have neck thickness issues if I just ran it through a size die and trimmed it. Would I need a neck reamer for the inside of the case or a uniformer for the exterior?
What is recommended ? This is been on my mind the last few years because finding brass is not easy for my rifle and soon to be retired so cost is a consideration.
I've only made 7x57 out of .30-'06 cases. I run them into a Redding form & trim die for 7x57, hack saw the necks off, deburr the mouths, then resize them in a 7x57 die and trim. I've had no neck thickness problems with this method. Unexpectedly, making 8x57 this was has required neck turning to get the neck thickness in spec.
