This morning I went back to the show in Centralia to buy the Marlin 336 35 Rem for $600 I should have bought yesterday. Got to the show and it was long gone. I was getting ready to leave, but decided to make another spin around the show just in case I missed something.

About half way through, I stopped at a table that had a bunch of 99s, of course they were all in 300 savage. The elderly gentleman asked what I was looking for and I replied, “a 99 in 358 Win., but I haven’t see one in 25 years.” He reached under the table and pull out this pristine 99 .358 Brush Gun. He laughed, “can’t say that now.” He told me he bought it new in ‘78. Other then wiping it down with oil once in awhile, it’s remained in his safe, unfired. Although to me it doesn’t quite have the je ne sais quois of an earlier model F or EG model with cut checkering, I wasn’t going to leave this one behind, especially for $1100.
