No, Ruger offered two action lengths in the original M77 rifles- 308 and 30-06 length,

The only "blocking" done on the mags were with rounds like the 22-250 in the short actions. There was a .5" sheet metal spacer block in the rear of the mag. I always cut it out on my personal 22-250 and 220 Swift m77s.


The .308 should be good to go.
