LouisB, technique definitely plays a big part in it. Since I switched to marabou jig fishing my catch rate on trout 20" and up definitely skyrocketed. I get my fair share on a fly too, but still prefer the jig when the fish will hit on it. As for location, pretty much any lake or river that has trout in the 18" and up class the techniques work in. I've been fortunate to jig fish in several states and it consistently produces really nice fish.
