Why.

Colonial brings refined product.

Most of the areas it serves aren't producing much crude.
Build refinerys there, and then you will be transporting crude for
them to refine. Same problem, less efficiency.

It's one reason our fuel is so expensive here in southern Pa.
Our fuel is from the Buckeye pipeline. Philthadelphia to Ohio.
Philthy has no crude, so it's shipped in, at high cost.
About half of the refinerys in that area have been closed.
The remainder thrived from trainloads of crude out of
The Balkan. When it was cheap.
It's not anymore, and they are
on the verge of closing. If they do, the Buckeye will reverse flow,
And pump oil from the Great Lakes East. They are already contemplating
doing that for the West half. Somehow, it would flow both directions and
meet at Altoona Pa. Where I used to load out of.
