Predicted 40F low last night when I checked before finally setting out the pepper and tomato starts:

When I got up this morning I thought they'd about nailed it, even though I live 15 miles or so from their station at the airport. Figured everything was copacetic.

Went out to start the sprinkler on the lawn, I'll be damned, frost on some of the grass and ice on the hose. Decided to check this morning's actual "official" temp, as that 39F is from my sending unit 5' up a tree in the shade and therefor protected from frost somewhat.

So, 36F in their weather station box 5' off the ground makes it understandable why there was ice in my birdbath this morning:
