in my 257 Weatherby mags. we have used for last 15 - 20 years 100 gr, Nosler partitions & 100 gr. Swift A-Frames at around 3800 fps both have killed bigger bucks fast in Northern Minnesota and out west in Northern Montana . last fall 2020 in Minnesota i used 115 gr. Berger bullets at 3400 -3500 fps with Reloader 25 accuracy was excellent and i killed 2 larger whitetail bucks in Minnesota 1 buck dressed 175 lbs. jump up fell down dead other buck that dressed 205 lbs. went about 40 yards and fell over dead. yes speed does seem to make a difference for my son and myself . i just ordered a Brux barrel with 7 1/2 twist to chamber another 257 Weatherby mag. with a 28 inch barrel contour #4 to be installed on a Weatherby mark 5 action. i wanna shoot the 128 gr. Hammer bullets,131 gr, Black Jacks and the new Berger 135 gr bullets with this rifle out west for deer and elk.
