My 450/400 NE 3" has the same wood grain as your H&H, Cascade. When I got around to scoping it with a 1.5-4x20mm in low Ruger rings the only way I could insure a solid cheek weld and have the reticle dead-on when opening my eye was to add a thick leather cheek pad.
