Seems like an expensive, troublesome solution to a temporary problem. He must like the rifle or he’d already have considered trading it for something else. No guarantee that he’l be able to get ammo for the new one either. .450 will likely be available before such work would be completed. He should sign up for notifications at a bunch of sellers and wait a bit and pick up something else, like a Henry SS that ammo is available for to shoot while he waits. I’ve been getting emails from various sellers about .223/5.56 and .308 at pretty fair prices. Rounds like those will be back to normal pretty quickly I think.
OTOH, if he’s one of those that expects to waltz into the store and buy whatever he wants, he’s gonna be SOL for a good while.
